Asacpharma is a Spanish pharmaceutical group that includes:

ESPECIALIDADES FARMACÉUTICAS CENTRUM, S.A.
Centrum is a production plant for medicines and cosmetics that holds the Certificates of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for both.

ASAC PHARMACEUTICAL INMUNOLOGY S.A.
A production plant for biological medicines and active substances with the Certificate of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for hypo-sensitizing vaccines and skin test diagnostics.

The company is made up of a consolidated workforce of approximately 400 people, who work every day with the aim of improving the health and quality of life of more than one million patients who benefit from our treatments each year, both within and outside our borders.

For the development of its activity, Asacpharma has five manufacturing plants: two in Alicante, one in Murcia, one in Casablanca (Morocco) and another in São Paulo (Brazil). Likewise, although its headquarters are located in Alicante, it has representative offices in Madrid and in the main capitals of Latin America.

As a company with an international outlook, we distribute our products in more than 40 countries through seven subsidiaries and an international distribution network. Asacpharma has six active companies of its own in Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Paraguay) and one in Morocco. Our work and efforts in the international arena led Asacpharma to be awarded the NOVA Prize for Internationalization in 1998.

Our products have received international distinctions for their quality in Russia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The international market has become one of the main pillars that has enabled ASACPHARMA to develop sustained growth in recent years.

The 1998 NOVA Prize is not the company’s only milestone. Thanks to the group’s research vocation, we have successfully carried out various R&D projects. One of the most important was the IBEROEKA 003 Project: “Screening and isolation of pharmacologically active principles from Ibero-American plants”, through which we became pioneers in the research of medicinal plants.

We are also proud to be part of BIOVAL, an Association of Companies and Entities in the BIO sector that encompasses Biotechnology, Biomedicine and Bioeconomy in the Valencian Community.

At Asacpharma, the patient is our priority. Through our vaccines, medicines, food supplements and cosmetic products, we help prevent and/or treat those who need it.

We aim to become a national benchmark, with a growing presence in the international market, recognised for the level of excellence and quality of our products and processes. In addition, we aim to be leaders in every therapeutic area in which we work, with the goal of being recognised as an excellent company to work for and invest in. At the same time, we must build a sustainable business that provides innovative solutions, which is why our business strategy is based on different aspects:

• Increasing innovation in R&D

We aim to be an internationally recognised pharmaceutical laboratory, with an activity based on the research and development of products that provide quality healthcare solutions. The constant change in the pharmaceutical industry and scientific advances have made us see the need to diversify and seek partnerships and acquisitions in order to grow the company. Therefore, it is essential to establish collaborations on R&D projects with companies and/or universities through co-development.

• In-house and third-party manufacturing of vaccines, dermatological products and food supplements.

We actively seek business opportunities for the marketing of third-party products (“In-Licensing”) in Spain, Morocco and Latin America, both on an exclusive and semi-exclusive basis. This means that ASACPHARMA is systematically present at the main national and international Business Development events.

For all these reasons, we believe that our company contributes significantly to development and research, helping treatments become increasingly specific and effective. Asacpharma’s growth is supported by intensive R&D work, high-level management standards and a firm commitment to employees, customers and suppliers.

▸ R&D ◂

ESPECIALIDADES FARMACÉUTICAS CENTRUM, S.A. HAS CARRIED OUT AND COMPLETED VARIOUS R&D&I PROJECTS:

• 2009: Phase IV, single-centre, controlled, double-blind pilot clinical trial on the effects of Centrum turmeric extract standardised to 12% curcumin + local phototherapy with visible light in adults diagnosed with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis for at least 6 months. EudraCT Number 2008-006420-65.

• 2010: Development of a blue visible-light booth for the phototherapeutic + drug treatment of plaque psoriasis.

• 2011: Phase IV pilot clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of treatment with Centrum Turmeric Extract plus blue-light phototherapy versus Oxoralen + UVA in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis. EudraCT Number 2010-024158-13.

▸ PRODUCTION CENTRES ◂

ESPECIALIDADES FARMACÉUTICAS CENTRUM, S.A. (Alicante)

Especialidades Farmacéuticas Centrum is a production plant for medicines, cosmetics and food supplements that holds the Certificates of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for both. This production centre not only manufactures products for the company, but also carries out third-party manufacturing activities.

The pharmaceutical forms manufactured at Centrum are: hard capsules, liquids for external and internal use, semi-solids such as creams and emulsions, and tablets.

As for cosmetics, Centrum manufactures products for the care and cleansing of the skin, hair and scalp. The pharmaceutical forms of our cosmetic products are: solutions, suspensions, emulsions and gels, packaged in plastic and aluminium tubes, in formats from 10 to 200 ml, in bottles from 50 to 750 ml, and in sample sachets of 2 ml.

ASAC PHARMACEUTICAL INMUNOLOGY S.A. (Alicante)

A production plant for biological medicines and active substances with the Certificate of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for hypo-sensitising vaccines and skin test diagnostics.

At Asac Pharmaceutical Inmunology, a wide variety of products are manufactured, such as skin tests for allergy diagnosis, lyophilised allergenic extracts, bacterial suspensions, and lyophilised and liquid allergenic bulks.

In addition, Asac Pharmaceutical Inmunology has facilities for the production of mites. At the Alicante plant, we carry out an important activity in the manufacture of individualised sublingual vaccines, both bacterial and allergenic.

ESPECIALIDADES FARMACÉUTICAS CENTRUM, S.A. Sucina (Murcia)

We have a plant extraction facility in Murcia, where we develop and manufacture exclusive extracts for third parties according to customer needs. It is an integrated solid-liquid and liquid-liquid extraction unit, fully environmentally friendly, as it has a closed and complete circuit design, with no discharge of any harmful elements into the environment.

Therefore, Especialidades Farmacéuticas Centrum is dedicated to the research, development and manufacture of medicinal plant extracts, with applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and nutraceutical industries.

LABORATORIES PHARMACEUTIQUES IBERMA. Has Soualem, Settat (Casablanca - Morocco)

Another of our medicines production plants is located in Casablanca. This Moroccan plant also holds the Certificate of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards for medicines issued by the AEMPS and, like the Centrum plant in Alicante, Iberma also manufactures for third parties. In addition, Iberma has agreements with various Spanish and Portuguese laboratories.

The pharmaceutical forms produced here are: hard capsules, liquids for external and internal use, semi-solids such as creams, emulsions, suppositories and ovules, and coated and powdered tablets.

IPI ASAC do BRASIL Ltda. (São Paulo, Brazil)

We have another production plant in Brazil for biological medicines and active substances, with the relevant certificate for this activity. It can be considered a replica of the Asac Pharmaceutical Inmunology production centre, as skin tests and individualised immunological vaccines are also produced here.
